Mateo Zapata Zachai’s new photographic series Fragments of Nature is a look at the way our environment can rejuvenate itself, even with the harm we've done to the planet. This work was inspired by the idea that if we each planted 30 trees, we could offset the carbon footprint left from our daily energy use.* There are currently over 301 million people living in the United States - that means over 9 billion trees need to be planted each year in the United States to account for the country's carbon footprint.
